This is a strange piece of good shit: a withdrawal.

Remember that story I read aloud at the Beaverton Main Library at the end of January? The one that was accepted for publication by Black Sheep magazine? Well, I had submitted it to another publication at the same time. This morning, I received notice from that magazine that "Flamenco Frio"had passed through their first round of review and was on to the second.
Sounds great, right? Well, there was a catch. If this story had been accepted somewhere else, I had to "update my submission" in the online site that many publications use to accept manuscripts. I checked the submission guidelines and I discovered that if my story had been accepted for publication by another publisher I must withdraw it from consideration for this magazine. That's what "update your submission meant". I had to withdraw "Flamenco Frio" from consideration. And so I did.
So why is this a piece of good shit?
Because not one, but TWO separate publications were interested in my story! One was just faster on the draw than the other.
I'm going to use this as motivation to keep writing. And to remember to submit something else to the publication I had to withdraw from.
I hope your words are working for you!
